Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' mantra that attracts so many people into the National Football League

This outcome could have created things up for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their 8-2 rivals

Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award

The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?

Josh Allen in action
Was Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a bad day for Buffalo?

Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to answer

The Bills had won seven in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 victors in an surprising outcome - and display

MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses

Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two scores but running back Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns

Bottling up the NFL's top running game was also key, with James Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard season average

Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into seven points just two plays

It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the calm, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year

The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the New England are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East

Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the New England, they're among three different eight and two squads in the league, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the best?

One could pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts really for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver

Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time win in Orchard Park seems like a statement

Their two defeats came in new head coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive victories, just like the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to prepare was huge

Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly deserves credit for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but persevering to guide his team to victory

The defensive unit is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth different runner to break 22 miles per hour this year on his first score

While you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to finish with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a huge one against the Bills

Traveling to Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but face the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the schedule

The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There is a considerable distance to travel but the opportunity is available for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference

Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Clash

Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored 40 burgers to go to 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the pair in Los Angeles

They've both secured four victories in a row, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a game

Both could easily be without a loss as well - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning kick with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown

The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly among the top teams in the league

The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
