From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
