Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's new record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
A family member advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
Fulham have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
