President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy led the government to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she planned to visit his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
