The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
