The former Liverpool manager states a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed England's top flight last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage any other side within the country. So that means should it be the Reds...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
