Three Athletes In Contention for Young Athlete of the Year Award

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a historic innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.
This year's winner will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.
The ceremony will be televised from 7 PM GMT.
The Football Star
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Her incredible contributions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Afterwards, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.
"Being nominated for this award is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
