The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has died in a vehicle crash in the state of California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This is an unimaginable loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
